Happy Easter!

Can I have a cheer for Easter? It’s that beautiful holiday of new beginnings and rebirth! This holiday is all about the promise of new possibilities for me, and I’m sure, for many others too. If you’ve read any of my other posts, you know springtime is my thing. I love Spring, and love Spring holidays!

Easter’s message of rebirth and beginnings goes way back to even before Christianity. Pagan holidays celebrating the Spring Equinox date to as early as 2500 BC, clear back to the Sumerian goddess of Inanna, the goddess of beauty, love, fertility, and justice, among other things. And today of course, Easter is a celebration of Christ’s resurrection.

Easter Celebrations

There are many different explanations why we celebrate this spring holiday with eggs, but whether it’s the symbolism of new birth or brought by the Easter Bunny, eggs are a traditional part of the holiday. Dyeing eggs is fun, egg hunts are always great for the kids and the young at heart, and in our family, my momma’s deviled egg recipe is a must have for the Easter meal.
