July’s Birth Flower is the pretty Larkspur! Includes printable

The birth flower for July is the pretty Larkspur

Summer is here, and so is the newest birth flower printable in my series! The birth flower for the month of July is the pretty Larkspur, also known as Delphinium. In the language of flowers, the Larkspur conveys deep love, with purple indicating a first love and white a happy nature.

July’s Birthstone and color

July’s beautiful Turquoise birthstone inspired the soft color wash for this month’s printable.

History of Birth Flowers

Birth flowers have an interesting history. The earliest reference to the language of flowers is by the poet Christopher Smart, who first mentioned a language of flowers in Jubilate Agno, circa 1759-63. However, Mary Wortley, Lady Montagu, through her memoirs, introduced 18th century western culture to the concept of flowers assigned to each birth month.

Additionally, Victorians expressed feelings not considered proper to voice aloud by sharing ‘talking bouquets’. Be sure to check out the links below if you’re interested in the history and full lists of flowers. I hope you’ll enjoy this fun series and your pretty July Larkspur birth flower printable!

An impressive share! I’ve just forwarded this onto a colleague who has been doing a little research on this. And he actually ordered me breakfast because I stumbled upon it for him… lol. So let me reword this…. Thanks for the meal!! But yeah, thanks for spending the time to talk about this topic here on your web page.
